Business as Usual at Starbucks, 237 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. Note the Trash and Garbage Area on the Left.
Meanwhile, It’s Business as Usual at the PA Avenue Starbucks
by Larry Janezich
Business as usual apparently includes a casual attitude toward trash and garbage disposal now undergoing scrutiny on Barracks Row. Starbuck’s evidently has not picked up on clues dropped by residents across the street who recently appeared before ANC6b’s ABC Committee to express their concern about rodent problems associated with restaurants in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, the former Thai Roma apparently being the source of much of the problem. To their credit, the Mendelsohn family – currently operating three of the restaurants on the block, including the recently opened Bearnaise in the space formerly occupied by Thai Roma, have gone the extra mile in installing new equipment and contracting with pest control businesses to address concerns of neighbors. The extra measures were encouraged by ANC6b’s ABC Committee when the issue came before them last month when Bearnaise sought renewal of it’s liquor license, which the Committee made contingent upon signing of a Settlement Agreement with the neighbors.

Unlike the Starbucks you reported on yesterday, this one does not seem to have pulled in the outside cafe for winter. As we all know, with climate change winter gets to eighth street before it gets to third.
Truth be told. The garbage you show (shot through a door marked Employees Only) is not visible from the sidewalk as it is behind the gate you can see at the top of the picture.
doesn’t matter if it’s visible from the street or not. The rats don’t care who can see it. They’re legally obligated to keep it closed
