Wednesday, April 30

ANC 6B’s Hill East Task Force holds a second community meeting from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at Payne Elementary School (1445 C Street SE) to discuss a planned Request for Offers on the Eastern Branch Boys & Girls Club Building (261 17th Street SE).

The DC Council Committee of the Whole will hold a public hearing on CSX’s proposed expansion of the Virginia Avenue Tunnel, 9:30pm, Room 412, Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.  Particular concerns include CSX’s ability to transport unlimited amounts of highly flammable Bakken crude oil through the construction site in an open trench feet from homes, parks, and a seniors’ center and less than a mile from the US Capitol Building for 3-6 years should the project receive approval.
