Update: The For Lease sign in the window of Santa Rosa Taqueria signals its move to 301 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, the space formerly occupied by Pret A Manger. The restaurant which opened in the summer of 2017, closed December 23, “until things get a little better” according to the website. The National Park Service announced today that the cherry blossoms are at their peak. Road closures are in place for vehicular traffic around the Tidal Basin, East Potomac Park and West Potomac Park, effective Friday, March 26. R.I.P. Distad Family member Donna Jean Cranford, 76, of Mechanicsville, MD, who passed away suddenly, January 19, 2021. Her brother, John Distad, said she succumbed to the covid virus after going to the hospital on New Year’s Day. She is remembered by Distad’s friends customers for her kindness, work ethic, and love of and commitment to family. John Distad said she was “key to [Distad’s] operation. - Help needed with the Potomac Avenue Pocket Parks. Meet at 10:00am at the park along K (the one with the splash pad). We will be mulching and planting hostas along the back fence, and clearing up at the point to create a space for colorful flowers.
