New Renderings of 1000 H Street NE Luxury Condo Development

Last week, Sanjay Bajaj, owner of City Trends Development, broke ground on the new H Street NE 49 luxury condo plus four retail units on H Street, NE. 

Here are the vital stats:

  • Address 1000 H ST NE DC, corner of 10th and H NE (across from Ben’s Chili Bowl)
  • Number of condos: 49 luxury condos plus 4 retail units on the first floor
  • Construction Start: June 2026
  • Estimated completion: October 2027
  • Estimated budget: $19 million
  • Developer City Trends Development
  • Principal Sanjay Bajaj

Here’s the language from the building permit which was issued June 12 and includes BZA approval.

Permit Description: ADDITION AND ALTERATION OF A 5 STORY + PARITIAL CELLAR, PENTNOUSE MULTIFAMILY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CONTAINING 49 UNITS AND 4 RETAIL SPACES, WITH ONE ELEVATOR, EXISTING FRONT AND THE PARTY WALL TO REMAIN. TOTAL BUILDING GSF 44,169 SF

    I’m glad it’s residential with some street level commercial. Too bad there aren’t any moderate income units. Is there mention of number of parking spaces, or promised community benefits? Marilyn Saks-McMillion
    Editor note: No mention of parking spaces. Since project does not require exceptions for zoning regulations, there does not seem to be any requirement for community benefits.

    Why does the first rendering show the new building going all the way from the corner of 10th to the old church building, with the former Duffy’s building torn down, and the next two renderings show the former Duffy’s building (the blue thing) still there and fully intact?
