Scam Alert –“Invitation Email” Scam Circulating in Capitol Hill Community

Today, a Lincoln Park neighbor’s email was hacked and a “Special Invitation” phishing email was sent to a number of the neighbor’s contacts.
Replying to the email to inquire as to its authenticity produced a response assuring that the invitation was legit – despite its fraudulence.
Inquiries as to the authenticity of such an invitation should be by text or phone call.

I got one of these yesterday stating it was from the name of a high school classmate I haven’t talked to/seen in 35 years. I immediately deleted it.
