Hard to recognize the old Remington’s on Pennsylvania Avenue – now slated to be the new home of a 7-11 and a Sprint outlet

The ticket booth for the Miracle Theater in the Community Church on Barracks Row started to take shape.

Finally, here’s a map of the MPD First District PSAs. The PSAs can be an effective part of community policing but some have fallen into meaninglessness owing to lack of community participation and ineffective MPD outreach.

On Saturday I walked down the alley from 7th to 8th and looked into that pit and was interested in see shadows of an old brick foundation and other bricks from a long ago building that were being revealed. I was wondering if anyone knows what was there.
I looked at the Sanborn maps and it looks like there may have been some houses that faced C street and maybe a few more building on 7th/8th that were torn down (right about where the current ally is) and wonder if that is what I saw. This map is a bit hard to date but Wallach is gone, Hine is there but is further back on the lot and seems to face 7th, and C Street is still there (before 1959/60 I do know). I do know that there was a building that was either somehow attached to the Wallach school or St. Cypriots around that spot but wasn’t sure if it was this building or the older townhouse there were here..
