The Week Ahead…& Some Photos from the Week Past

On the days following the insurrection on Wednesday, roses and other flowers were threaded into the security fence at several places on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. This photo is from Sunday, January 10.
A spontaneous memorial to fallen USCP Officer Brian Sicknick arose on Peace Circle on First Street on the west side of the Capitol. Rising above the memorial is the Peace Monument, also known as the Naval Memorial – a monument to the naval deaths during the American Civil War. The monument is topped by the allegorical sculptures of Grief and History facing down Pennsylvania Avenue. On the side facing the United States Capitol there is a figure of Peace. Sunday, January 10.
On Thursday, January 7, contractors put up a seven foot non scalable fence completly around the Capitol Grounds.
And by Thurday afternoon the National Guard was everywhere.
On Friday, January 8, the contractors erected the security fence around the Supreme Court.
