There are no ANC or community meetings that Capitol Hill Corner regularly covers which have scheduled meetings for the coming week. In addition to the photos below, there are other events which Capitol Hill Corner would like you to know about. (See below.)

Mott’s Market held its Grand Re-Opening last Tuesday night. Some 200 neighbors and celebrants turned out to welcome the event.

CM Charles Allen was among them, seen here engaging constituents.

So too, were Council Member at Large Elissa Silverman and Council Member at Large Elect Oye Owolewa.

Some local celebrities showed up – from right – Tom Sherwood, KoJo Nnamdi, and former WJLA news anchor Sam Ford. On far left, CM Allen.

Sunday, August 23
Congressional Cemetery – Battle of Bladensburg Wreath Laying Ceremony with the District of Columbia National Guard
10:00am – 11:00am | Free
On August 23, please join Historic Congressional Cemetery in collaboration with the District of Columbia National Guard for a Battle of Bladensburg commemoration beginning at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will honor the dozens of D.C. Militia members buried at Congressional Cemetery who fought in the battle.
The program will feature remarks from Congressional Cemetery and the DC National Guard, followed by a wreath laying at the grave of Private Andrew Coyle.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to participate in a guided tour highlighting veterans of the Battle of Bladensburg and the War of 1812 who are buried at Congressional Cemetery. Participants will also help place commemorative flags at their gravesites.
